State-of-the-Art Operation Theatre Complex at Tirath Ram Shah Charitable Hospital

The Operation Theatre (OT) Complex is the cornerstone of any hospital's surgical capabilities, and at Tirath Ram Shah Charitable Hospital (TRSCH). We are proud to house one of the most advanced, meticulously maintained, and efficiently managed OT complexes in the region. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, operated by highly skilled professionals, and governed by strict quality and infection control protocols, our OT complex is a reflection of our commitment to delivering safe and high-quality surgical care.

The OT Complex at TRSCH

Comprises five fully equipped, state-of-the-art Operation Theatres, designed to cater to a wide range of surgical specialties. On any given day, 15–20 major and minor surgical procedures are performed across various disciplines, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, and more. The seamless coordination between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff ensures a high standard of care and optimal outcomes for our patients.

Key Facilities Include:

  • C-Arm Imaging System: Used in orthopaedic and spinal surgeries for real-time fluoroscopic imaging.
  • Advanced Laparoscopic Equipment: For minimally invasive procedures that ensure faster recovery and reduced hospital stays.
  • Ultrasound Guidance (USG): Enables precision in vascular access and nerve blocks, enhancing patient safety.
  • High-definition Endoscopy Units: Facilitating ENT, gastrointestinal, and urological procedures.
  • Advanced Anaesthesia Workstations: For continuous monitoring and safe management of anaesthesia during surgeries.
  • Automated Surgical Tables and LED Shadowless Lights: Ensuring comfort for both patient and surgeon during intricate procedures.
  • Integrated Digital OT Systems: Allow real-time viewing, documentation, and sharing of surgical procedures, enhancing learning and quality control.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Our Operation Theatres are built with modern architectural designs that adhere to NABH and international norms for infection control and operational efficiency. Each theatre is well-ventilated and air-conditioned, with laminar airflow systems to minimize microbial contamination. The entire OT complex is a restricted area, monitored for cleanliness, hygiene, and sterilization.

Infection Control and Sterility Protocols

Infection prevention is paramount in surgical settings, and at TRSCH, our OT complex is managed with zero-tolerance policies for lapses in hygiene and sterility. Our infection control practices are regularly audited by a dedicated team and align with WHO, CDC, and NABH guidelines.

Key Measures Include:

Beyond diagnostic equipment, Tirath Ram Shah Hospital provides a range of in-patient facilities and support services, including:

  • Zoned Layout: The OT complex is divided into sterile, clean, and protective zones to regulate personnel and material movement.
  • Strict Aseptic Protocols: All personnel undergo gowning, scrubbing, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) before entering the sterile zone.
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs) with HEPA Filters: Maintain air purity with controlled temperature, humidity, and particulate count.
  • Scheduled Fumigation and Deep Cleaning: Conducted routinely using FDA-approved disinfectants to ensure complete sterility.
  • CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department): All surgical instruments are autoclaved, packed, and sealed according to protocol before use in any procedure.
  • Swab Testing & Biological Indicators: Random sterility checks are conducted regularly to ensure compliance.

Features of Our Management System:

  • Digital Scheduling: Surgeries are pre-scheduled with buffer times for cleaning, turnover, and emergencies.
  • Preoperative and Postoperative Areas: Well-equipped and staffed to ensure smooth patient transfer and monitoring.
  • Rapid Response System: To handle emergencies, trauma cases, and unplanned surgeries with prompt readiness.
  • Waste Management: Biomedical waste is carefully segregated, handled, and disposed of as per CPCB guidelines.
  • Documentation & Consent: All surgical documentation including consent forms, checklists, and post-operative records are meticulously maintained.
  • OT Logbooks and Incident Reporting: Maintain transparency, aid audits, and support quality improvement initiatives.

OT Management and Workflow Efficiency

The Operation Theatres are managed by a skilled OT In-charge and a team of OT Nurses and Technicians who coordinate with the surgical departments to ensure timely and efficient surgical care. An OT Schedule Coordinator manages the daily surgical roster to minimize delays and optimize OT utilization.

Quality Assurance and Monitoring
